"No lead fees" is on a lot of tradie websites now. Sometimes it means exactly what it says: you pay a flat amount, or nothing, and every enquiry is yours. Other times the cost has just moved somewhere else, like a commission on the job, a membership with credits, or a fee to unlock the customer's details. This guide sets out how the common models work so you can compare them properly.
The main ways tradie sites charge
| Model | How you pay | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Pay per lead | You buy credits or pay a fee each time you accept or unlock a job. | You pay whether you win the job or not, and the same job is often sent to several businesses. |
| Membership plus credits | A monthly plan that includes a set number of credits for accepting leads. | Minimum terms and automatic renewals. Work out what each won job really costs you. |
| Commission | Free to quote, then the site takes a percentage of the job price. | On big jobs a percentage adds up fast. Check whether fees also apply to payments made through the app. |
| Flat monthly listing | One fixed price for a profile page. Customers find you and contact you directly. | No guaranteed volume. It works as an always-on extra, not a job feed. |
| Free listing with paid upgrades | The basic listing costs nothing. Placement, badges or customer details sit behind a paid tier. | Read what the free tier actually shows. Some hide your number or the customer's details until you upgrade. |
None of these is wrong. A lead site can fill a quiet month. A free or flat-fee directory is cheaper but slower. Plenty of tradies use one of each.
Questions to ask before you sign up
- Is there a minimum term, and does it renew by itself? Look for the cancellation clause, not just the monthly price.
- Is there an exit or early termination fee?
- Who else gets the enquiry? If a job goes to three or more businesses, your odds drop and the race is usually won on speed and price.
- What does the free or base tier really include? Is your phone number shown? Can you see the customer's details?
- Is there a fee on payments processed through the platform?
- How do you cancel? Online or by email is easy. A phone call to a retention team is not.
- Does anyone promise you a set number of leads or a Google ranking? Treat that as a warning sign.
Where a no-lead-fee directory fits
A directory doesn't push jobs to you. A homeowner searches, sees your listing and rings or emails you. That's slower than a lead feed, but there's nothing to bid on and nothing to pay per enquiry. It's best treated as one more place to be found, next to your free listings, your reviews and word of mouth.

Frequently asked questions
What does "no lead fees" mean on a tradie site?
It should mean you don't pay each time a customer enquires or each time you accept a job. Check whether the site charges in another way instead, such as commission on the job, a membership or a paid upgrade to see customer details.
Are no-lead-fee tradie sites worth it?
They are cheap or free ways to be found, but most don't guarantee any volume of work. They suit tradies who want steady, low-cost visibility next to word of mouth and Google, rather than a fast job feed.
Does Find My Tradie charge lead fees or commission?
No. It's $19 a month including GST. There are no lead fees, credits or commission, and customers contact you directly.
Can I cancel Find My Tradie any time?
Yes. There's no contract term or notice period. Email info@findmytradie.au and debits stop straight away. Your listing stays live until the end of the month you've paid for.
