- Google Business Profile. Free, and it powers the map results for "near me" searches. Set it up as a service-area business if you work from home, so your address stays hidden.
- Bing Places and Apple Business Connect. Both free. Bing can import your Google profile, and Apple's feeds Apple Maps and Siri on iPhones.
- Ask for reviews every time. Send the link by SMS the day you finish. Reply to every review, good or bad.
- Referral partners. Builders, property managers, strata managers, real estate agents and trades who don't do your work.
- Local Facebook groups, done properly. Read the rules. Many only allow promotion on a set day or in a weekly thread. Be helpful the rest of the week.
- Signage on your ute and job sites. Phone number, trade and licence number where your state requires it in advertising. Keep it readable from a distance.
- Follow up old quotes. A polite text a week later wins more jobs than you'd think.
- Seasonal reminders to past customers. Air-con services before summer, gutters and roofs before storm season, hot water checks before winter.
- Free directory listings. Yellow Pages/True Local (free tier), Hotfrog, StartLocal and Brownbook. Keep your details identical everywhere.
One cheap extra
If you'd like a proper profile page without a website or a lead contract, Find My Tradie is $19 a month including GST, with no lock-in and no lead fees. It's not free, and we're a new directory with no guaranteed leads, so treat it as a low-cost extra rather than a replacement for the free stuff above.
A note on cold messages
If you email or SMS businesses you don't know, the Spam Act applies: identify yourself, include an unsubscribe option, and only message addresses that are published for business enquiries. Keep it short and relevant.
List your business for $19 a month

- $19/month inc GST, billed monthly by direct debit
- No lock-in, no setup fee, cancel any time by email
- No lead fees, no commission, no paying per quote
Frequently asked questions
What's the best free way for a tradie to get leads?
For most local trades, a complete Google Business Profile with regular photos and plenty of recent reviews brings the most calls.
Should tradies post in Facebook groups?
Yes, if you follow each group's rules. Many groups only allow promotion on a set day. Being genuinely helpful in between builds trust.
Is Find My Tradie free?
No. It costs $19 a month including GST, with no lock-in, setup fee or lead fees. Searching is free for homeowners.
How do I hide my home address online?
On Google Business Profile, set up as a service-area business and list the suburbs you cover instead of an address. On Find My Tradie, only your base suburb is shown, not your street address.
