Electricians: FAQs
How do I find an electrician near me?
Enter your suburb or postcode above. Find My Tradie shows listed electricians nearest-first, with their distance from you and whether they service your area.
Do electricians need a licence in NSW?
Yes. Electrical wiring work is specialist work in NSW, so anyone doing it needs a licence regardless of the job’s value. You can check a licence on the NSW Government Verify licence check.
What should an electrician give me when the job is done?
For electrical work in NSW, the electrician must give you a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW). They must give it to you within 7 days of finishing the work. Keep it with your home records.
Who connects a new power supply or upgrades my service?
Work connecting to the electricity network (for example a new connection or an upgrade to the service mains) is done by an Accredited Service Provider (ASP Level 2). Ask your electrician whether they are accredited or will arrange one.
Is Find My Tradie free to use?
Yes. Searching is free for homeowners, and you contact the business directly by phone or email. We don’t take a cut of your job.
I’m an electrician — how do I list my business?
